TB-500 is the synthetic form of a conserved region of thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4), an ubiquitous 43-amino acid protein found in virtually all human and animal cells. The biologically active fragment (amino acids 17–23: LKKTETQ) retains primary actin-binding activity. Thymosin beta-4 is one of the most abundant peptides in mammalian tissues.
