GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide GHK) is a naturally occurring copper complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. First isolated from human plasma albumin in 1973 by Pickart and Thaler, GHK-Cu demonstrates high affinity for Cu(II) ions (Ka ≈ 10¹⁷ M⁻¹). Endogenous plasma levels of GHK-Cu decline significantly with aging, from approximately 200 ng/mL at age 20 to 80 ng/mL at age 60.
